     Forward the Vision!

What would it take to grow emergent young leaders

    & create a more collaborative People's Movement?

E Imua i ka `Ike was born out of the environmental and Hawaiian cultural preservation movements currently existing on Maui.

Our vision is to create a platform to support and unite all of these movements.

    We are for:

    • Collaboration
    • Building capacity in our community
    • Public outreach and education
    • Providing tools that promote the formation of partnerships
    • Law making and legislative action
    • Intercultural alliances
    • Intergenerational bridge building

This event was facilitated by a group called Sustaining All Life. Their group's focus is recognizing the deeper wounds regarding climate change and corporate resource extraction that leads to environmental degradation. I listened to many voices in a series of three minute sharings. I think we...

    - A Positive Revolution in Change

One of the critical questions facing humanity is how shall we learn to work together? There have been wonderful breakthroughs in planning meetings, governance and organizational development, but the implementation, use and understanding of these new systems is still relatively rare. Some of these useful systems that we are currently utilizing are: Appreciative Inquiry, the Chaordic Process,  MAP: The Eight Stages of Successful Social Movements and Satyagraha. When combined together, they work positively brilliantly!

We have been working with these and other 'social change tools' for the last several years. We began this project using the Chaordic Stepping Stones to see how we could best serve our island community. Now our team is currently in the process of conducting interviews around the island using Appreciative Inquiry. We've had the good fortune to speak to many key individuals from various Hawaiian sovereignty, cultural preservation and environmental movements who have generously given of their time and energy to grow Maui's own People's Movement.

We invite you to check out our blog posts where are sharing short videos clips from these interviews and more information about these tools. Our hope is to create a platform where we can educate one another about our various work, motivate our community to action and remind each other that 'Maui, it's already happening!'
